Designer Minnan Hui graduated from Central Saint Martins in 2013. Her graduate collection – voluminous flamenco-like dresses topped with spindly, sculptural headpieces – embodied her fashion-meets-architecture philosophy.
Minnan Hui’s dresses appeared elaborately ruffled and layered, but were inspired by a deceptively uncomplicated type of construction: The “triangle shape”, “layering”, and “the two-dimension cut” using different scales of flower pattern with interior spaces build up a special 3D look.
Minnan Hui has received many awards including Business of Fashion Top 6, Texprint and was named winner of the Liberty Art Fabrics annual award. She was also the runner-up in the Grayson Perry Project. Alongside designing her own collections, Minnan Hui has gained valuable experience working in notable fashion houses John Galliano, McQueen and Mary Katranzou.
Regularly receiving strong press internationally, Minnan Hui's clothes have been worn by celebrities such as Lady Gaga and artist Grayson Perry and her print design can be seen on world famous Nike garments with whom she collaborated.
